Foot Percussion

These are instruments that I play with my bare feet while my hands are occupied with a drum or two. Clockwise from left: Assunta's Tambourine, Hotel Desk Bell, Log Drum, Timepiece, Toe Rattle, Skull Knocker with Hell's Angels woodblock, Low-Hat Cymbals. The practice of playing with the feet is nothing new, people have been at it for millennia. This set-up evolved (and continues to- my current setup is not the same as what's pictured) to fulfill a desire for greater bandwidth in a similar way to that of the drum set: each element has its own sonic niche to inhabit, different than those a hand drum has, hence, a broader palette is achieved.
